The USS Wyoming (SSBN-742) is a United States Navy Ohio-class ballistic missile submarine. It was named after the state of Wyoming and commissioned on July 13, 1996. The submarine has a length of 170 meters and a beam of 12 meters. It is powered by a nuclear reactor and can travel at a maximum speed of 20 knots while submerged.
The USS Wyoming is designed to carry Trident ballistic missiles with a range of 7,000 miles and has 24 missile tubes. It is equipped with advanced electronic and acoustic sensors, as well as torpedoes and missiles for self-defense.
The submarine operates with a crew of 155 officers and enlisted personnel. Its homeport is located at Naval Submarine Base Kings Bay in Georgia, and it conducts patrols in the Atlantic Ocean and the Mediterranean Sea.
